SUNDAY SKETCHES

I haven't had been able to get a good photo of this piece that I've been working on called Journey to Womanhood.  This was hung on the wall and taken with my iphone.  I hope to find a black backdrop to set off the white background and pull out my good camera sometime this week but for now this will have to do.

Journey to WomanHood 1' X 3'

I layered the canvas with vintage book pages.  The titles of each page tell a story, the story of the voyage from Maidenhood to Womanhood.  The titles read: **The Maiden** The Courtship ** Somebody's Darling ** Leave her to Heaven (let her keep her purity) **  How to Avoid Housework**  An Accidental Woman ** Mrs. Who ** Mr. John Bailey Appears ** and finally in her sarong ** The Perfect Wife **

I drew the figures in black and white charcoal on top of the book pages and splashed the painting with gesso that I textured and stamped into while it was wet.

I don't often explain my art but this one tells a story about how we all wake up one day to discover we've become a Woman (or an adult for my male readers...LOL) and how as we mature into Womanhood we often are reaching back at times to get in touch with our younger selves.

Thanks for stopping by for Sunday Sketch!  Oh Oh I almost forgot, today is 1 month since I started my blog!  My goal was to have 50 followers in my first month so if you aren't following , make my day and sign on to follow!  I promise to work hard to keep you interested!  THANKS... HUGS!

very thoughtful work. It will have a totally different look framed in black, this look is also nice, just more monochromatic.
