Paint Party Friday April 12th, 2013

Thanks for stopping by for Paint Party Friday!   I'm always so happy to visit with my PPF friends to see what wonderful art is being created and I receive great joy sharing what's on my studio table for the week with you all.

Here is a commission I completed recently, it was 4 pieces for a gallery in Pittsburgh that sells my custom torn paper pet portraits to their clients.  They specialize in framing so they purchase from me and then sell to their client a lovely framed finished product.

I'm having a contest on my Facebook Studio page to choose a background for my newest piece.  Come check it out. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Robin-Panzer-Art-Studio-33/231107300246708  Random winner will receive a set of 4 X 6 Postcard prints.

I feel blessed and fortunate that my torn paper pet portraits have become so popular.  I've completely booked for 2013 here are some of the pups I'll be working on throughout the year
I have a few more to add to the photo log here for a total of 17 commissions to complete in 2013.   The top row is complete.  Right now I'm working on Jack

The first thing I create when doing a pet portrait are the pets eyes and nose. I think accuracy in this area is so important to capturing your pet's personality and even more important when creating pop art style pets. Here I'm working on Jack's eyes and nose. You can see in the second photo when they are done and sitting toward the bottom of the portrait that they don't look like much of anything. To see if I've gotten them just right I set them on top of the photo, if they blend seamlessly then I am ready to add them to the torn paper portrait I am creating. After an hour and half I'm very pleased with the results of the eyes and nose I created for Jack they blend well when placed on the photo for comparison YAY!

Thanks for stopping by to pay a visit for Paint Party Friday!  I can't wait to see what you are up to!

What adorable little pups! Your work always amazes me. I typically start with the eyes also, it's the window to the soul and you capture them beautifully.

Really sweet puppy. when I was little I had a puppy like that but he passed away in a terrible car accident. I will never forget that day. anyhow, really special and beautiful work!

I love your pet portraits and it is interesting to me that you start with eyes and noses. Great idea.

I love collage type work - you inspire me with those portraits. I have tried that with my own Boston Terrier - without too much success yet. I guess I should glue the paper on a canvas and not directly on the dog (LOL) Really - I am not surprised that you are completely booked for the year - your portraits are fabulous - thanks for sharing a bit of your technique.
