Paint Party Friday March 9th

Hello Bloggy Friends and Happy Friday!

Happy 1 year to Paint Party Friday one of my very favorite blog hops!!  Thank you to Kristin and Eva for hosting this wonderful event each week!

I usually post for Paint Party Friday but I am really behind the 8 ball on posting this week, I'll probably be 100 and something on the list!  My soon to be teenage Son is definitely dealing with the hormones and was an emotional roller coaster all day yesterday!  By the time I dropped in bed at midnight (after trying to see the Northern Lights) I went out like a stone!

On a a positive note I have two new Pet portrait commissions that came in, a delightful horse named Tootsie Roll and the absolutely most adorable pom named Samson!

I've been working my way through Marshall Arisman's DVD class on Mixed Media Technique (loving it.)

So what did I paint, I painted Monkeys, they are not mixed media yet, they are intuitive sketches to find form without control.  Without control you say? Well yes, I had to paint them with very unusual tools!

Painting with  indian ink, a stippling sponge, a hair pick and an exacto knife??!?

This was an extremely fun exercise as I created these 11 X 14 fellas in about 5 minutes each and I rather like them for their simplicity. My hubby loved them so they are all ready hanging in my studio!

I also drew this Hookah Caterpillar for one of my friends over at ATCs For All.

I hope you are having a wonderful week and enjoy your hop around bloggy land!  Next week I hope to have my background done for Caleb (The pop art pup I did last week out of torn paper) and a good start on Samson in torn paper. Be sure to stop by and see all of the wonderful Paint Party Friday Postings!

I confess your caterpillar reminds me of a tardigrade, and that was actually rather frightening. (google that!) But it is well crafted for sure.

Happy PPF! I always try to have an extra blog post in my back pocket for busy weeks. I hate to miss this party.

Maybe it's the full moon plus hormones? I have a houseful of teenagers and this week was filled with snark- and not the delightful kind! These intuitive sketches are great fun and I can't wait to see your new portraits, cause I know they'll be FAB. I also love your hookah caterpillar! I just got a commission to create a dancing praying mantis- can't wait!
Happy PPF (a day late;))
